Meat & Skeet
The Meat and Skeet in October was a terrific success. A group of 30 enjoyed shooting clays, a tower shoot for pheasants and shooting crossbows on the 3-D archery course. Thanks to Vince and Paul from Chopper’s BBQ for catering lunch and CHIKO for catering dinner. Lyon Distilling Company in St. Michael’s brought Dark N’ Stormys for everyone to enjoy and Michael Hamilton played music on the porch. A great time was had by all.
Law Enforcement Appreciation Shoot
Patriot Point welcomed policemen from Talbot and Dorchester counties for a relaxing afternoon. The guests enjoyed crabs on the screened porch, then visited our skeet shooting range to test their aim.
Barn & Caretaker’s Residence Construction Update
Construction continues at Patriot Point! Cranes were recently on the property to assemble the trusses on our new barn and Caretaker’s residence! We are on schedule to complete construction in December as the overhaul of our 290 acres continues.
U.S. Air Force Honor Guard
The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard visited Patriot Point this past weekend. These men are based out of Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling and are responsible for providing burial services to those laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. At Patriot Point, the guests were blown away with the property, where they especially enjoyed skeet shooting and beach activities. Several guests also enjoyed the 3-D archery course, while others enjoyed relaxing and watching college football. “They, and I, are extremely grateful for what Patriot Point provides and we cannot thank you enough for your efforts.”
Freedom Hunters Dove Hunt
The Maryland chapter of Freedom Hunters brought seven retired and active-duty service members from Maryland and Delaware to Patriot Point this past weekend for a dove hunt. All of the guests served for more than 10 years and enjoyed a wonderful weekend at the property.
Tom Deoudes, outreach coordinator for the chapter, said that the service members thanked him for arranging the visit. Deoudes also shared a thank you note from a service member who visited Patriot Point last fall:
Trips like today truly mean more than you could ever imagine to us. Patriot Point is the epitome of giving back to service men and woman by providing an environment of true friendship, sportsmanship and relaxation to all veterans.
USO Metro Staff Retreat
Patriot Point is just one of those places that recharges your batteries and reminds you to slow down and connect with the people around you. From soaking in the sun on the two and a half miles of coastline to going on a crabbing adventure with caretaker, Tim, it is clear why military families who visit Patriot Point return home with such great memories and stories to tell. We are so grateful to Patriot Point and Military Bowl for creating this safe haven and opening its doors to USO-Metro and our local military and families.” –A USO-Metro Staff Member after visiting Patriot Point last week.
USO Metro Beyond the Base
This past weekend, USO-Metro visited Patriot Point with nine military families from all throughout the National Capital region. Camping, crabbing, kayaking, and plenty of sunshine sure kept them busy in the first “Beyond the Base” excursion.
Heroes on the Water George Washington Chapter provided kayaks, water activities & endless outdoor fun for the families.

Military Spouses
USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore brought several military spouses to Patriot Point for a retreat over the weekend of July 23. The group, which included some women who were new to the military lifestyle, enjoyed paddle boarding and kayaking, taking a dip in the refreshing water and all that Patriot Point had to offer.
“This retreat came at a great time since some were feeling overwhelmed with moving and having young children,” said USO-Metro program specialist Amy Altersitz. “One woman is a veteran and married to an active-duty service member and she expressed that this is a beautiful retreat for military families. She hopes to return with her husband to Patriot Point. [Patriot Point property manager Tim Mitchell] was great with everyone as usual.”
Hunters Education
Patriot Point recently hosted several students and young adults for a Hunter’s Education program. After completing an online course on hunting safety, members of the group convened at Patriot Point for a day of firearms training and safety instruction.
