Mission
Patriot Point is the Military Bowl Foundation’s 294-acre retreat that provides a safe, secure and tranquil outdoor recreational retreat facility for wounded, ill, and injured active duty service members, veterans, their families and caregivers who face daily struggles related to their time spent defending our great nation.
Patriot Point is owned and operated by Patriot Point, LLC, a single member limited liability company whose sole member is the Military Bowl Foundation, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit.
Given the success of the Military Bowl Foundation, leadership wanted to expand its impact and make a difference for the nation’s recovering service members. Businessman and philanthropist Stuart Plank, then a member of the Military Bowl Foundation’s DC Touchdown Club Executive Committee, was aware of a property for sale on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. It had been owned by Washington businessman, sportsman and conservationist Jim Bugg, who informally had hosted recovering service members.
In 2016, the Military Bowl Foundation, the Stuart Plank Family, and Military Bowl Foundation Board Member Rob Taishoff, through the Taishoff Family Foundation, formed Patriot Point, LLC to purchase the 294-acre property and formalize Bugg’s concept of using the property as a retreat for wounded, ill and injured service members, their families and caregivers.
Since purchasing the property, Patriot Point has made several improvements including: a new kitchen in the main lodge, backup generators for the buildings, paved the parking area and lane, added a dog kennel, shooting and golf simulator, and a new 32’ boat all for the benefit of our Veterans, their families and caregivers. Patriot Point focuses on small groups with the average group size being 10. We are proud to have hosted more than 2,500 service members, Veterans and their families and look forward to welcoming more.
